FAQ

Norfolk Knowledge FAQs

BASIC QUESTIONS

1. Who can be a member?

We welcome those with extensive experience in all aspects of business and with the time to give to helping organisations in the county.  We also ask that members read and sign our Members' Code of Conduct.

To view our Members' Code of Conduct click here.

2. Can Norfolk Knowledge help me?

Norfolk Knowledge may well be able to help you. If you are an experienced individual, Norfolk Knowledge can help you re-engage with the local community whether that involves working with businesses or with the voluntary sector. If you are a local organisation, Norfolk Knowledge may be able to help you become more competitive, more efficient or get a greater publicity for what you do.

3. Does it cost anything?

No, we are a funded organisation, so at this time registering with Norfolk Knowledge costs nothing.

4. Do members have to come from Norfolk?

Not necessarily, if you live outside Norfolk, but work in the county and are happy to engage with organisations within Norfolk, then we are happy to have you on board.

5. Do Knowledge Requesters have to come from Norfolk?

The majority of requests come from Norfolk and as such we prioritise our activities toward this, however we are happy to consider requests from the border areas of Norfolk on an individual basis.

6. How does Norfolk Knowledge work?

Norfolk Knowledge seeks to facilitate meetings between experienced individuals and local organisations. Organisations submit requests for help, detailing the nature of their problem and/or the specific type of experience they are seeking. This request will then be advertised to the membership, those members that can assist will then get in touch with the organisation and start the process.  Please note the relationship between an experienced individual and an organisation will be conducted independently of Norfolk Knowledge. During and after the process both parties are required to provide feedback to let us know how they got on.

7. Can charitable organisations get involved or is Norfolk Knowledge focussed on businesses?

Norfolk Knowledge is more than happy to provide help and assistance to charitable/social organisations and voluntary groups as well as businesses. Indeed some of our members have stated that this is the preferred group of organisations they would want to work with.

8. If I have other commitments and am only partially available, how much time would I need to give as a Norfolk Knowledge member?

This depends on what you agree with the party seeking your experience. It is up to the parties involved to agree a mutually beneficial programme of assistance. Norfolk Knowledge facilitates these relationships, but does not, in any way manage them.
